Best Economic Universities of China
April 2nd, 2007Tags: Economic Universities, Economic Education
Firstly, I would like to emphasize that steady economic development of China - the most populated country in the world - pushes forward development of its education system, with a number of universities.
Beijing (or Peking), to its true worth, is the center of high education, besides being the business and cultural center of the country. The two most prestigious universities of China are situated here - Peking University and Tsinghua University.
Composing the list of best economic universities of China we will certainly include the following ones, which are world famous and rapidly developing. They offer economic education of international quality, rich up-to-date material and highly experienced professor staff - Peking University and Tsinghua University
Peking University, China Center for Economic Research (CCER)
Peking University was created in 1898 and is one of the oldest universities in China. According to The Times World University Rankings 2006 it is the best university in China and the 14th university in the world.
It provides well-focused education of social sciences, humanities and management and its economic education is ranked quite high by foreign students and professors.
Surfing through the website of Economic Faculty is quite tricky, as the web-designer who created that site must have been in bad mood and with computer broken. In spite of that, reputation of the faculty as the best economic department of China, the most attractive and prestigious one is steadfast and all-round.
The top publishers of Peking economic university are Sidian Liu, Justin Yifu Lin, Mi Luo, Roger K. Olsson, Minggao Shen, Hao Wang Sr., Miaojie Yu, Zhengfang Zou.

Tsinghua University, China Center for Financial Research (CCFR)
Most Chinese rankings of universities place Tsinghua University first. In our review it is posted at the 2nd place after University of Peking because of its specialization mainly in engineering and science. In spite of this, its department of Finance is highly effective in preparing top-level specialists in finance, risk management and insurance.
Many of China’s top business leaders, engineers, politicians and scientists are among Tsinghua alumni. The current Chinese president, Hu Jintao was also a former Tsinghua student graduating with a degree in hydraulic engineering in 1964.
The university is famous for its mathematitians, physicists, politics, but the list of world-known economists is relatively short: Shang-Jin Wei, Xiaodong Zhu, Chong-En Bai.
As stated at the university’s website “The China Center for Financial Research (CCFR) is dedicated to high quality research in finance. It aims at providing a first-class open research platform to support and promote research on China’s financial system, including the development and regulation of financial markets and financial institutions, the governance of corporations, and government financial policies.
